Crisis Management Team case study

Since 2009, as part of the National Strategy for Business Archives, a group of seven business archivists and historians has monitored corporate administrations, liquidations and takeovers where records were thought to be at risk. In the period since, there have been roughly fifty cases where the team has taken action.

One of the most high-profile was the case of the electrical retailer Comet, which went into administration in November 2012. A swift and co-ordinated response by the team, aided by Hull City Archives and an employee within the company itself, helped to ensure that records of this significant company were safely secured and deposited.
