The National Archives Manorial document survey open

The National Archives is undertaking an online survey about the current use of manorial documents, the research it supports, and the users of the Manorial Documents Register. They would also like to gauge national awareness of the Manorial Documents Rules.

English and Welsh manorial documents provide more information about the lives of ordinary people between the thirteenth and sixteenth centuries than any other source.  As such, manorial records are without parallel and are globally significant.

You can find the survey here: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/VGKZ5V/

The survey will run until 19 October 2020 and is open to all, including academics, archivists, researchers and those interested in manorial records.

The results from this survey will help plan the future development of the Register and the commemorative programme of events in 2022 to mark the centenary of the Law of Property Act 1922, the subsequent creation of the Manorial Documents Register and the completion of the computerisation of the Register for England and Wales in 2022.

Thank you very much for taking the time to participate in the survey. If you have any additional questions about this survey, or would like to contribute further information, please don’t hesitate to contact the team by email at mdr@nationalarchives.gov.uk quoting Manorial Documents Survey 2022 in the subject line.
